Growing older is a tricky thing.
Some claim they are more happy, more themselves than in their twenties. Some say, taking responsibility for yourself, those you love and those you are supposed to look out for, is the most meaningful thing to live. I would agree to all of that. That still doesn’t make it easy - aging as a woman in a society that puts youthfulness and perfection on a throne. That still doesn’t make deep relationships less complex. That doesn’t change the fact that some insecurities and burdens will accompany us throughout our whole lives. That it sometimes feels like the more you know yourself, the harder it gets to accept yourself for who you are.

Don’t get me wrong - I’m the master of complexity and I want to know more about you and me and life. I want to dig deep. It’s just f*cking painful and exhausting sometimes. This is a song about frustration and fights, about inner voices and things that should be easier. There is a bit of rage in there. But also self-irony and the drive to move on.
